Objects of Desire is a love letter to my breed of aesthete, who revels in unique, beautiful things that also provide a sense of triumph.
An 18th century plaster lamp available at auction. A hard-to-find Alaia flat on sale. An every day object made aspirational.
And most of all, it’s about our aesthetic choices, about the things we buy, for our bodies and homes, and what they tell the world about who we are.

I’m Noora Raj Brown, a luxury brand consultant, writer, and cofounder of La Chute, a cabinet of vintage furniture curiosities. I was formerly the EVP of Brand at goop and a magazine writer.
I’m a fan of cherishing anything that lets you nourish your sybaritic self: books, interiors, clothes, art, food.
A few of my truths:
I love old things, with old souls and provenance. Bonus if they’re haunted.
I believe in buying rare, special things and investment staples you’ll wear for years, and not much in between. More on my shopping doctrine here.
Individuality is currency. Taste doesn’t have to be “good”, but it has to be yours. And discovering your own taste should be an evolving exercise, infused with a sense of play and discovery.
