We're stuck in a tiny algorithmic k-hole. Mostly, I like it. After all, sometimes I *am* just like the other girls! But I always want to break out and punch things up, too. It's probably why I always have so many tabs open. Discovery is my drug. This was a great read, as always.

I’d love a screenshot of these tabs.

They all end up in my newsletter, so in a way, The Love List is just one big screen shot

I love this. The Aesop story makes me think of Le Labo Santal 33. I remember when I first found it a zillion years ago, how fresh and cool it felt. And how quickly it was just... everywhere!

Totally! And I still love the scent. But it’s almost so cliche it’s cool again.

When I lived in NY, I did an experiment. I had just finished my bottle of Aesop hand soap and I decided to fill it with unscented soap from Whole Foods. I had friends come out of my bathroom smelling their hands in bliss proclaiming “I love Aesop!!” I never had the heart to tell them… ;)

Love this, and so cleverly written. I feel like I can't escape this in my work, every image of inspiration all the sudden feels already done by the time a project comes to fruition.

To us, yes, 100%. But to others, remember it still feels novel.

I love all of your fabulous rec's but G. Label. So derivative and boring. Also overpriced. Grover Rad and The Salting are my personal favorites.

I often feel torn in these situations.

On one hand, I seek out the "undiscovered," desperate to be unique in my tastes. At the same time, I want to be able to like what I like without considering how others will receive it.

To the comment below - I love Santal 33 and have for over 10 years.

I decided that my love for it outweighed my concern for what it said about me, and will wear it for as long as it is available
